Calligraphy Morning with a Shodo Artist書道の朝 — 現役書家に習う书道之晨——师从执业书法家

Japanese calligraphy is meditation disguised as writing. The ink is ground slowly by hand, the first stroke cannot be corrected, and two hours disappear before you notice. This morning class is taught by a working shodo artist whose pieces hang in restaurants and homes across the city.書道は「書くこと」の姿をした瞑想です。墨は手でゆっくり磨り、最初の一画はやり直せない。気づけば2時間が消えています。この朝の教室を教えるのは、作品が街のレストランや家々に掛かる現役の書家です。日本书道是披着「写字」外衣的冥想。墨要用手慢慢磨，第一笔落下便无法修改，两小时不知不觉就过去了。这堂晨间课程由一位执业书法家执教——他的作品挂在这座城市的餐厅与住宅里。

You start with the basics — how to hold the brush, the eight strokes hiding inside every kanji — and practise on newsprint until the brush stops fighting you. Then the artist helps you choose a character that means something to you, and you write it properly, on fine washi, as many times as it takes. Your best sheet is stamped with a hand-carved seal and mounted to take home.まずは基本から——筆の持ち方、すべての漢字に潜む8つの基本画。新聞紙で筆が手に馴染むまで練習したら、書家と一緒に「自分にとって意味のある一字」を選び、良い和紙に、納得がいくまで書きます。いちばん良い一枚に手彫りの落款を捺し、台紙に貼って持ち帰ります。从最基础开始——握笔的方法、藏在每个汉字里的八种基本笔画，在报纸上练到笔听话为止。然后书法家帮您选一个对您有意义的字，在上好的和纸上认真书写，直到满意。最好的一张会盖上手工篆刻的印章，装裱后带回家。

• No Japanese language ability needed — the strokes are the language.日本語の知識は不要です。筆画そのものが言語です。无需任何日语基础——笔画本身就是语言。
• Ink stains: dark or casual clothing recommended; aprons provided.墨が跳ねることがあります。濃い色の服を推奨。エプロンはご用意します。墨可能溅出，建议穿深色或休闲衣物；围裙已备。
• Children 8 and up are welcome with an adult.8歳以上のお子様は大人同伴で参加できます。8岁以上儿童可在成人陪同下参加。
• Your piece is dry and packed flat for travel by the end of class.作品は教室終了までに乾かし、平らに梱包してお渡しします。课程结束前作品会晾干并平整打包，方便携带。
